Nathaniel Bacon Chapter papers [manuscript], 1922-1937.

The collection contains a report of the Committee on a Memorial Shelf of Books for the Thomas Jefferson High School Library submitted by Mrs. F. J. R. (Rachel) Ford; a handwritten list of members (including author Pocahontas Wight Edmunds) and children's subscription cards for the national magazine; miscellaneous [speech?] notes on several patriots and the state of Michigan; and clippings pertaining to the chapter and various Virginia historical figures and places. The collection also contains the chapter yearbook, 1929-1930, 1936-1937; by-laws, 1927;a citizenship manual, 1935; "activities shown by the services of the National Committees, 1930, a compendium of newspaper articles on service projects from chapters around the country; a card containing "The American's Creed"; and guides to Fredericksburg, Va., and the George Washington birthplace. The collection also contains a photograph album, 1928-1931, from Providence Forge and Richmond with snapshots of Flag Day ceremonies, the Providence Forge "old forge" dedication with the boy Scouts and Dr. George Potts, oldest living Virginia Mason, several members, a 1931 tree planting, Ginter Park School, trips to Natural Bridge, Florida, and Washington, D. C. and the cherry blossoms, gardens and Mrs. Ford.

Pocahontas Wight Edmunds (1904-199) was an American author and authority on Pocahontas. Pocahontas Wight Edmunds was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1904, the daughter of Pocahontas Wilson and Richard Cunningham Wight. She spent much of her childhood and later life in Halifax, N.C. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's School and Agnes Scott College, and she also spent time studying in Paris.
